Welcome to Bertrand Smith's Acres of Books. We are California's largest second-hand book store and carry over one million books in stock. The facade is design in the Streamline Modern style. The building extends for one hundred and fifty feet back from Long Beach Blvd. We carry books on almost any subject and we also carry some antiquarian books though we don't considered our selves antiquarian book dealers. We purchase most of our books from walk-in sellers, but we will also travel to a person's home to buy an entire library.

Because you can find older out of print books there and they price is not out of sight which is good for someone who loves books, reading and lives on a fixed budget.
Acres of Books is not just a store, it's an experience. It's a place to get lost in for hours. It's a place to take everyone you know to. It might just be, the greatest place on earth.
Acres of Books rules because it has put a viable stamp on Long Beach for book lovers all over California. People come from all over the world simply to get lost amongst the million books snaking through this historically and currently viable cultural landmark. If you don't believe me, read Ray Bradbury's opinion on the place!
There's nothing like acres of books. It leaves one speechless every time you enter. I have a friend who's family drives all the way from diamond bar just to go to acres of books.
Acres of Books is like no other used bookstore you've ever been to. Not necessarily because you will find what you are looking for, but more for the things you can discover by accident. Give yourself some time to browse around, and don't be too set on finding exactly what you want. besides that- Ray Bradbury loves the place so much that he helped save it from the wrecking ball in the 80's, and he wrote a great article about the store called "The bookstore electric". Sadly once again, this rare gem is slated for demolition, and it needs some publicity- everybody vote ACRES OF BOOKS!!!
They have acres of books and a great open mic night. Raun is cool,
I love this book store one of the rarest bookstores that is a landmark for California. It's worth the two hour trip to Long Beach.
You can spend hours in there, and find everything you were not looking for. It's a cool place.
Huge selection, excellent choice of out of print editions, friendly staff, and happy cats. What more could a bookworm ask for?
Acres of Books is amazing because of the wealth of information that lives not only in the stacks of books but also in the wonderful people who work there.
A book lover's dream come true.....the nose knows.
OK - I belong to several book clubs and what you need it there and less expensive than anywhere else. Plus, for the bookworm you can find out of print geeky textbooks at an affordable price - what more do you want?
Magical, labyrinthine, beautiful.
Acres of Books is the best!!! A great place to find out of print books and books of varied and unique interests. Rows and rows of used books--more than anyone can count! Acres of Books has the best open mike every Friday Night, too!
Acres of Books is the best!!!
Acres of Books is a priceless place where teachers, students, residents of Long Beach and visitors can find reasonably priced, unique books every day. It has been part of Long Beach for many years and, with its special events and unique ambiance, it defines Long Beach!
Acres of Books has been getting ALOT of press lately. Will it stay or will it go now?
Located next to Hobo Alley, this place fits poetry, music and knowledge in every nook and cranny.
Heck, I bought my copy of "Fascinating Womanhood" from this store.
A "Must see, Must save"!
Like searching in hidden buried treasure and the service is stellar.
