(avg rating of 20 recs) Write a recommendationI love the Jukebox room in the bar, its so fun to hang there with a margarita, chips and salsa, and friends.
This restaurant continues to grow in popularity. Once a neighborhood secret, it isn't uncommon to walk into a packed house for karaoke on the weekends, car shows Friday or Guitar Hero nights on Wednesday. The place is covered from floor to ceiling with Elvis memorabilia! It isn't out of the ordinary to bump into an Elvis impersonator or two. Look for monthly events, and of course don't miss the karaoke shows on Friday and Saturday nights! They are the best karaoke shows in Orange County!!! The food is excellent and reasonably priced, the staff is friendly and fun, the adjacent bar "Crooners Lounge" is chill. You owe it to yourself to check this place out.
This place looks like Elvis threw up all over it!
Love this place! Elvis memorabilia, great food, and the Crooners Lounge.
Gotta love the kareoke nights!
I love Elvis and the margaritas are by the pitcher!!
This place is a unique, friendly, chill yet fun atmosphere. They always serve up stiff drinks, free chips and salsa, and great food and drink specials... like the $1 Coors light drafts!!! I always find friendly faces and good times at this local bar. Viva La AZTECA!!!
Great food, great atmosphere. If you are an Elvis fan, this is the place for you.
Food is just ok. The decor of the place is awesome. It's a beautiful place. JJ this guys a clown. He's beside him self. Not very friendly. I'd go to the bar across the street. Louie's is a much better place.
Great food, fun, and who doesn't love Crooner's covered in Elvis?
Sucks about how random the votes were scored, because Azteca is definitely one of the best in this list. But it didn't even rank TOP 5? One of the "TOP 5" awarded here didn't even have a vote or COMMENT at the time the winners were picked. Another bar had 2. Hmmm.
All that aside, you should check the place out and judge for yourself, because this site apparently has an agenda.
Historic Main, Garden Grove. Businesses line the streets from an age where individuality was not as accepting, where ethnocentricity was a strong as ever. One business, though, stands out from the rest. Upon walking up to Azteca's the first thing one sees is Elvis Presley from the second balcony wailing away with all his soul from back in the days that this architecture suggests it comes from. Frome the story above you can hear him sing as if renacting his night of his controversial hip swinging, but this time the radical change is from the monotomy of this quaint, old timey street. Walking up to the door right before Pirate Mike turns on his joke clips and turns on those karaoke microphones, you are greeted outside by a door man who might as well be Mr. Presley's brother. He introduces himself, and with more warmth than most can muster in a day, smiles and open the door and welcomes you to the festivities inside. Inside you find a smattering of a staff who treats all as if they were good friends, die hard locals who believe in the more the merrier, and J.J. the owner smiling upon all who joins like a father watching his children open presents on Christmas morning. Put up a few songs, after a few beers and expect to have a good time, because Azteca's has that right atmosphere where everyone is approachable and everyone is an old friend, no need for an introduction just spend time catching up with good times. And if you see me, almost on any weekend, I accept both handshakes and hugs. Happy to see you there.
I have been going to Azteca and the Crooner's Lounge for over 10 years, even proposed to my wife there on New Years Eve. JJ has always treated us like family ( thru Doug we kind of are) and I can truely say you will not find a better place around.
I love this place. Stiff drinks, great people, incredibly unique. Azteca is the OC's hidden treasure.
OMG! This has got to be the best bar/restaurant around. I've been to alot of places, Los Angles, Long Beach, Phoenix, Irvine, and Azteca's in Garden Grove is the place to be. Great Karaoke, Great Cocktails, and i must say, Some of the greatest guys i have ever met! Not only are they handsome and studly, they also have tons of personality, intelligence, and a great sense of humor. And if you lady's just want to dance the knight away, feel free to do so to the karaoke songs. They have a great variety of songs on hand, From Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" all the way to Fergie's "Clumsy". And lots of Rock and Hip Hop to get everyone pumped up. I'll See you there!
I haven't been to too many bars, but thats because i found this one early. Therefore i feel there is no other place i'd rather be. The weekends are always slammin' with the some great singers. Azteca's has great food, great atmosphere, and some of the best prices around. And on Mondays, they show movies in the bar! A great way to start out the work week. And no other place has treated me with open arms as wide as they are at Azteca's. Great Security that is well mannered and one of them dresses just like the King!(Elvis, in case you didn't know) Ton's of Elvis memorabilia everywhere, and i mean everywhere. On the wall, behind the bar, on the ceiling, and in the restroom. I suggest that you try every other restaurant and bar everywhere else, that way you can say,"I've tried the rest, now i'm going to the best, Azteca's!"
Their weekend karaoke events are the best that I've ever been to....and I've been to quite a few in my time. The trick is to come in early and sign up right away, because it gets really busy as the night goes on. Great atmosphere, and a fun place for celebrations! Our group had a great time!
P.S. There's a bar that's just to the right as you walk in. It was almost like a secret. We didn't know it was there until we were leaving! What an awesome surprise! We peaked in and saw a big party going on. We have to come back soon! Viva La Azteca!
This place is deep in family heritage and history. If haven't been you need to treat yourself and family to this experience not once but multiple times just to see a portion of the elvis stuff. The staff is great and darlene rocks too!! Keep up the good work...And the "COCKTAILS" are cold and delicious!!!
they are a great local bar. everyone knows eachother. karaoke on the weekends. guitar hero night on wednesday. cheesy movie monday, it gives you a reason to drink every night!! they have the nicest owner, JJ. it appears to be an elvis themed bar, but it's more of an Elvis museum. I've never seen so much elvis memorabilia in my life and i love it!
