Basilic Restaurant, located on beautiful Balboa Island, in Newport Beach, California, first opened its doors by chef/owner Bernard Althaus in February 1997. The intimate and romantic 24-seat restaurant has since proved that good things do in fact come in small packages. Since then Bernard has cooked each dish on his menu to order with specialized care for each guest at Basilic. With just eight dimly lit tables, chalet-chic ambiance and a wait staff that caters to every whim, Basilic is tailor-made for date-night diners. The authentic Swiss-French menu begins with house-specialty appetizers such as raclette (a melted cheese and potato dish) and plates of gourmet dried meats that pair well with complimentary feta- and herb-topped crostini. Entrees include tarragon-mustard rack of lamb and veal tenderloin in a rich mushroom medley. Desserts range from light, gently sweetened sorbets to the rich tart Tatin with homemade vanilla bean ice cream.

my turn to say THANK YOU for all the fantastic meals i had with my wife over the years. As a married couple we have had many meals in all over California and many other restaurants.
this is the one place not only we have great meals we also plan our special events and bring many many friends caus we know every single meal been prepared with Chef Bernard to fit the Basilic restaurants stantards for last 11 years .there is only 8 table s and ONLY 1 CHEF in Basilic so i say MAKE SURE YOU CALL AND GET A TABLE , ENJOY

to everyone who is lookingfor real taste in food and personal touch of chef owner Bernard and the rest of the family of BASILIC when was the last time you had a meal that was done with labor of love and has the taste of your grandmas cooking? it does not matter how well i write here, this is one of the last gems you can experience the ultimate romantic experience, dont take my word for it, go for it
