Voted the number one museum in Los Angeles, Heritage Square is best known for the beautiful collection of Victorian-era structures, Heritage Square is a living history museum reflecting the development of Southern California from the 1850 to 1950. The Museum offers visitors a look into the everyday lives of Southern Californians at the close of the 19th Century. Guided tours of the museum are supplemented by special events, such as Museums of the Arroyo Day®, which take our guests back in time to the era where electricity was a novelty, a trip to the beach was often a full-weekend activity, and manners were distinctly different from those of today. From the simplicity of the Octagon House to the opulence of the Perry Mansion, the Museum provides a unique look at the lifestyles of the people who contributed so much to the development of modern Los Angeles and Southern California.

Heritage Square is the best musuem of live in history I ever been to. I have learned a great deal of the history of L.A. from Heritage Square.
Things change so fast in Los Angeles that there is little left of our historic past. Thank goodness for Heritage Square for preserving some of the interesting architectural history of our city.
I love this museum! It is truly like taking a step into the past.
Heritage Square is no ordinary museum, it's like a time machine to take you back to when houses were as unique as the people who lived in them. Irreplaceable.
Heritage Square is saving the homes and buildings of Los Angeles that would not exist in any other way.
My favorite place for getting away from it all, while still being right smack in the middle of the city!
The place is jam packed with historical insights into Los Angeles' past. You can actually walk amongst our modern day ruins, how great is that.
These folks really care & the voluteers even get their families involved.
Very beautiful buildings, local history, and docents have done outstanding work supporting organization not funded by city.
Heritage Square Museum is part of L.A.'s true heritage. These were "our" homes and churches.
It's a wonderful place to know our LA History!
Excellent place to preserve our architectural heritage.
As far as I'm concerned, much of LA is being buried. Heritage Square is a fabulous opportunity to re-live and learn about the history of LA, what it looked like and the people who came here and developed it. We need more preservation societies like Heritage Square to capture the magic and history of LA's beautiful historic homes. A must-see if you enjoy older homes with character, craftsmanship and history!
Heritage Square is a really unique museum compared to a lot of other museums in the area and it is also a really good value for the cost. They have a lot of fun activities and fundraisers throughout the year that are kid-friendly and adult oriented.
Saving the Heritage of L.A.
A great survey of LA architecture & history.
