L.A.'s premiere improv and sketch comedy venue, the iO WEST Theatre (formerly Improv Olympic), features the best improv and sketch comedy in Hollywood, with shows on two stages, seven nights a week! Celebrity guests perform with veteran improvisers every week. iO WEST's 99-seat, two-level Mainstage theatre includes a full bar, cocktail service, and state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. The Andy Dick Black Box is “the lab in the back:” an experimental space that is open to all ages. Additionally, iO WEST offers improv classes, writing classes, and much more. Our alumni feature the best and brightest actors, writers, and directors in the entertainment industry, including: Emmy-winner, Tina Fey, as well as Amy Poehler, Vince Vaughn, Adam McKay, Mike Myers, Jack McBrayer, Seth Meyers, Chris Farley, Andy Dick, Andy Richter, as well as numerous writers and performers from Saturday Night Live, MADtv, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, 30 Rock… not to mention the most promising talent of tomorrow.

If you are dying tomorrow and can only see one improv show before you die, find a show at this theatre. This is the best.
Great comedy usually. Glad there's a bar in case they're not. It's sad when the bar is more packed than the house. It seems the bar is filled with really loud, drunk students of the school, trying to be funnier than the person in front of them. They get some bigger comedians though.....in the bar....so if you're star struck....they're at the bar.
I just love this place. The best improv in town in a hip area (they have valet parking) and friendly staff make my choice for "Best in LA".

Because they're iO West
If it wasn't for iO west, comedy wouldn't be the way it is today. Anyone who is wanting to hone or just learn what a comic needs to have that extra uhmph they need the training that only iO west can provide.
Great place to laugh, learn, love and drink. Plus you see funny famous people all of the time.

I love that the shows are completely made up based on one word from the audience. No games and nonsense with a director telling you who and what you are to determine your scene work. At IO West, it is what it is! REAL improv.
