The club's owner, Jamie Masada, built the Laugh Factory from the ground up. He came to the United States at the age of 14 armed with a little money and a dream of becoming a famous comic. Working odd jobs and saving every penny, Masada eventually opened his Laugh Factory in a tiny storefront on the famous Sunset Strip in 1979. As the club grew, so did its reputation. Today the Laugh Factory is one of the best known comedy stages in the world and has been graced by such stars as Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, Paul Rodriguez, Dave Chappelle, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Jon Lovitz, Roseanne, and many, many more.
