We are on the east side of Sawtelle between Santa Monica and Olympic. There is parking in the rear of the restaurant. Orris is freeway close from everywhere in Southern California! Chef Hideo Yamashiro ("Shiro") was born in Okinawa, Japan where he learned the pleasures of a real tomato. His passion for such subtleties brought him to Los Angeles where he eventually worked in such famous French kitchens as Ma Maison (under Wolfgang Puck) and Les Anges (he was sous-chef to Patrick Jamon). Shiro then became the head chef at one of the jewels of Southern California, Cafe Jacoulet in Pasadena.

Beautiful food, perfectly prepared and plenty of wines by the glass to choose from. Perfect for dining solo or date.
Attention to detail and quality are a given.
They JUST ARE!!!
Friendly staff, knowledgeable servers, distinct flavors, fresh produce, stellar cuts of fish and meat, low key but trendy vibe, gorgeous hostess, delectable desserts and a reasonable bill that follows. Need I say more?
Absolutely excellent food. Never had a dish I didn't like!
It's tucked away in a cozy little space and the food/service are exceptional.
The food is always fresh, atmosphere is relaxing, the workers are very friendly, quick to response and attentive. Wine is superb.
It is some of the most simplistic yet creative food. Consistently a superb meal.
Fabulous flavors, great service, consistent, fresh, innovative, original. In France, they would call the 6 plates for 2 people that you order a "tasting menu" & charge 100 euros per person--here, you get all the pleasure & none of the pain.
Orris is the quintessential example of success when it come to the Los Angeles culinary scene. Located in often-slammed-"pretentious" West L.A., it is offset firstly by its funky, ethnic soup location in probably one of the the only cool neighborhoods left, the Japanese Sawtelle strip. The fare is fresh-picked EVERY morning by the head chef himself and the amount of imagination that goes into the menu is unbelievable. The sheer range of how the items are prepared only sets the scene for the incredible dining experience. Paired with a carefully curated wine list, it is the unbeatable spot in all of the Southland for fusion-styled tapas. Prices are generous for the five-star taste sensation. Ambience and staff are equally knowledgeable and friendly. You'll find everyone from college grads to studio executives marveling at the food at Orris. Don't miss this secret jewel in a town that is tired of over-priced fare that under-delivers. Orris is a leading example of what eating and sharing food is all about.
I've dined at Orris many times and the overall experience has consistently been top notch! The food, atmosphere and service is awesome!
Wonderful food, awesome service, simply LA's best.
