Past strip malls and bustling thoroughfares on the outskirts of Rancho Santa Margarita is a narrow road that winds to Trabuco Canyon. The drive from suburbia to Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill takes long enough to make you feel like you could be lost. Just as you begin to look anxiously for opportunities to make a U-turn, a little sign off to the side reassures the hungry that the cantina is just around the corner. For those of us who reside outside the canyons, a drive to the cantina is a real trip. Nestled beneath towering oaks trees, the eatery sits at the edge of a stream where it smells like - get this - nature. There is something rather charismatic about the dirt parking lot. But the bougainvillea growing up the sides of the Spanish-style building and the twinkle lights wrapped around the trunks and branches of the old oaks are especially inviting. As one couple from Long Beach put it – “We can get Mexican food any where. But, for us, nothing beats this old historic destination restaurant. It doesn’t matter the time of year, we just love to sit in the cantina or patio, meet new friends or see some old ones and while we’re there we eat great Mexican food and drink the best Margaritas.” Rose Canyon Cantina, named after the winding road that leads to it, has a menu with a combination of Mexican and Southwest style cuisine. But before you can decide what to order you have to choose where to sit - the cantina room with bar, the dining room with comfy-looking booths or the amazing patio that, in spring and summer, can mean a two-hour wait. We just found the most unique destination restaurant in Southern California............Rose Canyon Cantina!!! The food was great, the margaritas fantastic and the aviance phenomenal.

What a great find! My wife and I discovered Rose Canyon Cantina about 4 months ago...........we are now Saturday afternoon regulars. We love sitting out on the patio drinking our margaritas under the shade of the beautiful oak tree. The food and service is outstanding!

I have lived in the area for almost 3 years and have heard about Rose Canyon Cantina but did not try it until 6 months ago. What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I love the little out of the way places with a small town atmosphere and since we moved to the area had not been able to find the "atmosphere". We now have found the best place ever! Thank you Rose's!

John and Melanie are the nicest people and Melanie is the sweetest hostess. You feel as though you are in her big living room or at her kitchen table rather than just another restaraunt. As a diehard football fan, my friend and I go there often to watch our teams play. The food and the drinks (thanks Sergio) are great and the atmosphere - phenomenal. I highly recommend this warm and inviting, out of the way place, to eat and enjoy your time and your meal with old friends and new. You also have your choice of dining inside or out.

Well were do I begin? I came last Sunday (May 4th) for the first time with my girlfriend. We got seated by the wonderful girl, who happened to be our waiter. She is by far the best waiter I have ever came across at a resturant, by a long shot. Her name was Shiren (I believe thats how you spell it, if not I'm sorry.) The service was insanely quick, she talked with us, had a amazing personality, recommended some great food, and told us how good the margaritas were. So my girlfirend and I ate/drank everything that she had recommend, let me tell you it was wonderful! When we were done eating she told us about "Taco Tuesday" and how busy it gets, so now I found my Tuesday eatery, and more than likely I will become a regular. = l>. I turely hope you (Rose Canyon Cantina and Grill) win this contest!! You guys deserve it!

Rose Canyon Cantina is not just a restaurant with amazing food, it is not just a beautiful scenic place to dine-- I would explain it as a home away from home where I know I can go and get the best service, from the best servers (Jen is my favorite), and the Cadillac Margarita that Sergio makes doesn’t compare to any other! I drive 40 minutes almost every week to my favorite, most outstanding restaurant ever! ROSE CANYON CANTINA!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
THE BEST!!! WE WILL NEVER AGAIN DRIVE INTO SANTA ANA(THE ONLY AREA IN O.C. TO GET DECENT FOOD) OR DOWN TO LAGUNA TO EAT CRAPPY FOOD, AND ENDURE EVEN CRAPPIER SERVICE!!! AWESOME STAFF, GREAT FOOD, BEST DRINKS IN A PLACE THAT LOVES YOU EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THE "HOUSEWIVES" (GACK!!) The best chips and salsa ANYWHERE!!! We love sitting on the patio under the beautiful oak trees and drink the margaritas......Sergio and Brian make the BEST margaritas!! The food, the service and the aviance are definitely what make it OC's best and why we are regulars!

Outstanding!!!--Rose Canyon is one of a kind, great Mexican food and the best margaritas--in a setting that can't be matched. Someone told me that it's "location, location and location" and this place has it all. I've never been to a place where cowboys tie up their horses when they come by to eat. It kind of takes you back when life was more simple. I guess that's what I like about Rose Canyon. I just love sitting on the patio, have a few margaritas and sometimes see a the deer stroll by. What a Place.
Rose's has been our favorite all-time restaurant ever since John and Melanie took it over a few years ago. The food is delicious, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere cannot be beat. The outdoor patio set amongst the oak trees is beautiful and unique. There is no place like it in Orange County!
