Established more than 27 years ago by Edmund and Mary Fry, the Rose Tree Cottage is a traditional English Tea Room and shop bringing the best of Britain to America. Set in an English style court of cottages, the 'Rose Tree Cottage English Village Shop and Tea Garden' is the original tearoom in Pasadena, California - helping start the tea revolution in America. The shop has been featured in L.A. Magazine and Victoria Magazine for their teas and tours. Our afternoon tea was named one of the "Top Ten Tea Experiences in America" by U.S.A. Today.

Enter Mary Fry...an amazing woman...steadfast, brilliant, lovely. She brings her whole delightful self to every seating. After nearly three decades of receiving her tender ministrations at afternoon tea, my heart still skips a beat when she dawns her mitt to pull those steaming scones out of the Aga. I LOVE "Rose Tree Cottage"! I always feel like I'm going into another world- an English one, of course. It is so cozy and warm and they have the best scones in the world! Edmund and Mary are lovely. The atmosphere is perfect. It's the first place I think of when it comes to a proper English tea!

I consider myself Rose Tree's godmother as I worked there on opening day and on and off thereafter. I have watched the shop grow, and know first hand of Mary's and Edmund's commitment and attention to detail to the business, and of their devotion to their customers. Long live Rose Tree Cottage!!
I have visited most of the tea houses in Southern California and they, by far, are the best. The tea was amazing, food was excellent and the decor is astounding. I also love the selection of British foods available for sale. I will absolutely be a regular at this establishment
