Shenandoah at the Arbor is owned and operated by Rick and Jill Wilson, the original owners of Shenandoah Café, which was located in Long Beach for over 21 years. October of 1983 Shenandoah Café opened in Naples on Naples Plaza, one year later Shenandoah moved down the street a couple of miles to a larger location on 2 nd street in Belmont Shore. Shenandoah Café closed it's doors on May 31, 2005. Shenandoah is famous for their hot apple fritters, a complimentary appetizer served immediately to all who chose to dine there. American regional cuisine is what you will find on the menu, at lunch and dinner. Lunch favorites include San Antonio Chicken Sandwich, Texas Fried Chicken Salad, BBQ Chicken Quesadilla. Dinner Highlights are Cajun Rib Eye, Galveston Pasta, Baby Back Ribs, Sand Dabs, and on Friday and Saturday nights, Hickory Smoked Prime Rib. Shenandoah at the Arbor is a favorite spot for special occasions, including bridal & baby showers, birthday celebrations, anniversary celebrations, and retirement dinners.

I have spent many lunches and dinners at the Arbor. I am never disappointed in the service and the ambiance is delightful. Whether inside the cozy shabby chic home or outdoors among the flowers, birds and gentle ocean breezes, or at night with the glittering lights entertwined in the garden wall, you are at home in the casual chic"ness" of this restaurant. Sit back and enjoy a nice hot apple fritter and peruse the dinner menu for new delights. And after lunch, enjoy the quaint shops within arm's distance of the restaurant.
My family has been going to Shenandoah's Cafe for years. We started going there when it was in Belmont Shores and followed it to the Arbor when they closed. The food is awesome. The desserts are so decadent you may want to start with them first. What more can I say!!!
We love the friendly greetings from the staff when we walk into Shenandoah at the Arbor. They accommodate special requests in a gracious manner; Want to change when you're sitting?... No problem. Want to reserve a special table for group?... No problem. Didn't like the glass of wine you ordered?... No problem and no charge.
It's difficult to pick which feature of this quaint cafe we like best. Perhaps it's Chef Rick who comes out from the kitchen to greet his customers, it makes us feel like family. Then there is the light-hearted feeling you get gazing around at the canopy of trees, the fresh flowers, the Koi pond while inside there are charming tables and chairs covered in delightful fabrics and above all hang twinkling chandeliers. Most of all; Best food anywhere!
We love dining under the ambiance of the trees, the sounds of the water fall in the coy pond and the stars above (or the sun if your are dining for lunch). What a great atmospher for romance! The apple fritter are delicious, the choice between soup or salad is a hard one, but dinner...The Chicken Artichoke Fettuccini is the best!!!!
I have been going to the Shenandoah Restaurant since the 80's. The first location was on 2nd Street in Belmonte Shore, which has since moved to this new location in Los Alamitos. I was amazed by their fabulous service and menu options. It is mostly a southern style of food. I always have a hard time deciding what I would like to eat because there is a variety of Gumbo, chicken, duck, ribs, steak... it goes on. The Raspberry Chipotle Duck is absolutely to die for . They are very well known for their in house made apple dumplings and dinner rolls. They also assemble your salad table side, asking what you would prefer in it. They have fabulous service and fabulous food. My husband and I go there for every special occassion.
Great food! Amazing Service!!! Don't get too full on the apple fritters or rolls. They can be a meal all alone. Shrimp Cabo and Dallas Chicken are y favorite.
Shenandoah Cafe just gets better all the time! From its inception many years ago in a little hole-in-the-wall spot in Naples, Long Beach, to its wonderful Belmont Shore location, and now in its beautiful incarnation as Shenandoah at the Arbor in Los Alamitos, this has always been one of my very favorite restaurants in the world. The food is scrumptious, from the hot fresh apple fritters as soon as you are seated to the somewhat sinful desserts, with all those great regional American entrees in-between.
And though I know the menu inside and out, what to order is always a tough choice - all of the food is delicious! And, there is something for everyone. Don't let me forget to mention the warm, welcoming, and gracious service. And yes - the atmosphere is lovely, and the patio so very romantic. I'm ready to return very soon! Keep up the great work, Jill and family.
Food and service is always great. The beautiful garden setting is the perfect pace for a romatic getaway.
Wonderful ambiance ,especially in the garden patio. Great service and great food. Perfect for special occasions and romantic interludes.
Food always great--beautiful location. Our special occasion place. Best in the OC since it left Long Beach.
Where in LA/OC can you find apple fritters? At Shenandoah of course. Those fritters are delicious!! And those Shrimp Cabos are even better, sauteed in a jalapeno tequila cream sauce, and make sure you ask for the Sweet Yeast Rolls so you can dip those rolls in that sauce, yummy!!! I can go on and on about this quaint shabby chic of a gem restaurant. Beautiful patio under the umbrage of a large fruitless Mulberry Tree, and at night time the surrounding area is covered with lights!! A beautiful Koi pond surrounded with flowers everywhere, makes this restaurant as one of Elmer Dils (ABC7) favorite restaurants.
So many delicious entrees to choose from!!! The Stuffed Halibut (with crab) is amazing!! The Riverwalk Steak is so tender it practically melts in your mouth!! Try not too eat too many fritters (almost impossible--they're to die for) or you won't have enough room for a Texas Trio Appetizer (crab cake, fried green tomatoes, shrimp cabo)...beautiful patio dining---THE BEST!
The best patio dining in the area. As charming as the Ivy in L.A. without the drive. Excellent southern food, with a very friendly staff. Huge trees, koi pond, and twinkling lights make it a very romantic dinner spot. Lunch is great too. Ladies, take your friends for lunch and shop in the cute shops that are right there in the same area, but take your husband for a special dinner out.
Gorgeous patio dining! Romantic evening dining but lunch served also. The best hickory smoked prime rib is served Friday and Saturday nights. Menu is American regional cuisine. Wonderful fried chicken, chicken fried steak, apple fritters, gumbo, but also some wonderful seafood and pasta dishes. Great food with friendly service. Highly recommended.
