Sheen Joshi has wanted to own a restaurant since he was a teenager. Born of Indian and European descent. Sheel studies with great chefs and learned details of the trade working in restaurants, hotels and casinos. Year after year, Sheel clarified his vision of the establishment he would open. He knew he must serve the finest and freshest ingredients, and never succumb to "chili meters" on his menu or generic, uncalibrated spices like "curry powder" in his food. He could create an authetic fine-dining experience.

The best Indian I've had in Los Angeles. Quality ingredients and great service. The ambience and food are both superb. The garlic nan is delicious!
Incredible! This is arguably the finest Indian restaurant in the LA metro area , if not the entire United States! The chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, lamb chops and naan are heavenly! The vegetarian dishes are spectacular, especially the saag and the mixed vegetable masala. Service is excellent and dessert consists of many different types of european pastries.

Lovely restaurant, with well presented dishes and varied menu including a nice selection of grilled foods. Sheel has excellent taste can always recommend the perfect wine to accompany your meal. The staff are always friendly and attentive.Definitely our favourite for Indian food in LA.
I have discovered Surya while on vacation in L.A. Surya is a fantastic Indian restaurant where the meals are inventive and refined. This is so much more than a classical Indian restaurant ! This is a unique, inspiring experience that Sheel Joshi the owner is offering. Excellent food, warm and classy setting, jazzy ambience... Take a chance on ...Surya! The owner Sheel takes care of you. Coup de coeur : excellent wines. I will recommend it to all my friends in France.

The ingredients are fresh, the quality consistently high, the flavors vibrant, the service attentive but never overbearing, and the restaurateur gracious and welcoming.
Quite simply the best Indian food in LA or anywhere. My favorite dish is the Tandoori Sea Bass. Sublime.
